"Magic Sky" Hello, wonderful creatives! This time the recipe is incredibly inspiring! The new Icing Pastes have conquered me! They give so many possibilities and add true beauty. I am always inspired by what surrounds us and, especially, I love the sky. This time I wanted to convey my cosmic emotions in a small art object. And the little Melange pieces shine like stars. Let your imagination flow freely and be creative! ~ Olya

“I could not wait to play with the new Icing Pastes. They are perfect! Not only do they work perfectly with stencils, but also as paint.” ~ Kasia
For this inspiration, I made a wooden heart. I painted the whole surface with pastes. (I used two colors - Amethyst Magic and White Gold), but I wanted the whole thing to be a little bit old and vintage, not too shiny. So, here and there. I added a layer of black gesso, then pastes again, gesso, until the layers began to penetrate beautifully and protrude from one another.
For such prepared background, I stuck resin elements, which I also painted with black gesso, and I highlighted the details with pastes and waxes. It is very interesting that pastes and waxes of the same name have the same colors, only a different finish. The pastes are very sparkling, they have a lot of shiny particles. However, putting together the same colors gives a great effect.
I added also a beautiful diamond art pebbles to my composition. And here the black gesso came in handy - I covered crystals and emphasized their shape with wax. I hope that this project will inspire you to play with Icing pastes. As you can see, it does not take much to show their beauty.

“With a grateful heart” Mixed Media Wood Panel
“Hi Guys, I was delighted when I was asked to create a project for this month’s Prima Art Recipe. Why? Because I loooove these NEW Prima and Finnabair Icing Pastes!!! Let me just tell you, these Icing pastes are absolutely AMAZING, my friends! They are so creamy and versatile and gorgeous! Their colours perfectly coordinate with the Art Alchemy Wax line and they are suitable for all sorts of techniques. The consistency is very similar to the 3D gel and they are highly pigmented. Shimmery, fluffy magic in a pot!” ~ Sanda
I started by covering my wood panel with a coat of white heavy gesso. I dried this quickly with my heating tool and then I applied Art Alchemy Sparks (Unicorn’s Hair, Magical Pond and Mermaid Sparkle) using baby wipes.
When this layer was dry, I added some texture by spreading some Paper texture paste thorough Prima Doily #3 stencil using Finn’s 2” silicone brush. (Make sure you clean your stencil straight away, as this paste is drying hard pretty quick and will ruin your stencil)
Next, after the paste was dry, I sprayed some dark blue ink and Prima Colour Bloom Precious Stone to enhance the stencil texture.
When the ink was dry I added the Icing Pastes (Mystic Turquoise, Rose Gold and White Gold), applying and blending them with baby wipes.
As a focus point, I used a lovely bird I die cut from a scrap of paper I painted with Art Alchemy impasto paints (Cobalt and Crimson)
I added highlights using Art Alchemy wax (I used the same colours as the Icing pastes) and decorated my panel further with some wonderful art pebbles from the Melange line (I used Vintage Retro) that complimented my painting perfectly.
I hope you’ll feel inspired by my project and try to create your own mixed media panel using these utterly fabulous products.
